MR CHRIS HILL
FRCS - OPSA Trustee & Medical Team Member
It is my privilege to be involved with the October camp for my seventh year. It is always a challenge with some difficult cases.
My hopes for this years camp are to increase the emphasis on patient safety and the quality of care that we can deliver with the introduction of a morning briefing with surgeon, Anaesthetist and all the staff involved in the care of that day’s patients, continued use of the WHO checklist and rigorous recoding of swabs, throat pack insertion, needles and instruments used.
Another essential aspect of the week is teaching, and I hope to catch up with my friend and local consultant Yasir Iqbal who’s trainees attended last years camp and I hope found the cases they saw and assisted in useful. In addition I’d hope to have some formal teaching sessions in addition to the in-theatre teaching.
The camp also offers UK and Ireland trainees and Medical students a fantastic learning opportunity.
