Thank you Nick for inviting me down to Kingston to do a few cases with you as an ENT registrar through to being a great colleague for 9 years until your retirement. You never had a bad word to say about anyone, but your knowing grin said so much! RIP.

Deepest condolences. Nick welcomed me to Hull 20 years ago as our first Oculoplastic surgeon. He offered me introductions, advice and opportunities. I enjoyed his company - a true polymath. Rest in peace.

We have so many amazing memories it is difficult to know where to start. He was a kind man and a good surgeon. He was generous with his time and advice and a fantastic trainer who leaves a generation of surgeons wiser and more skilled thanks to his guidance. However my lasting memory will always be him playing the bagpipes to welcome us over the top of a mountain pass on a charity cycle ride for OPSA. We are privileged to have known Nick, rest in peace.
James Haeney
So sorry to hear about the passing of Mr Hart. Mr Hart was a gentleman who would make you feel comfortable in any situation. I remember saying to him once I'm just the ODP he replied nonsense, your not just the ODP your part of the team!. He was so caring and would teach you in a way you would understand. RIP Mr Hart.

RIP Mr Hart . My heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends . I have such great memories and respect of and for Mr Hart. I was Theatre Sister when he very first came to Hull from working with bomb victims in Ireland to joining Hulls plastic surgery team . He undertook some very long arduous complicated operations with the ENT surgeon Mr Blackburn - facial commandos taking up to 8- 12 hours - two teams and then using leaches to stop heamatomas .Wonderful results!! An absolute pleasure to have worked with him .

I was lucky enough to work for Nick from 1999, until his retirement from plastics in Hull, not only a very talented surgeon, but a caring compassionate man, who shared his skills and knowledge to everyone he met. A loving husband and father, he was so proud of his family and my deepest sympathy goes out to them. The true epitome of a life well lived RIP. X

I was really lucky to have met Nick during a cleft camp. He is a true inspiration, having led the charge for improved children’s services in Pakistan for so long. He took a great deal of time out of his schedule to give me sage advice as I embark on my own career. This is a great loss to our community. His kindness will not be forgotten.
Sameena Hassan
I met Nick in 2013 on my first trip with OPSA. He welcomed me wholeheartedly. He was a gentleman in everything. He had worked in Northern Ireland as a senior registrar and he shared happy memories of his time in the Ulster Hospital and living in Bangor (my home town). He was a calm and steady influence in everything he did. Although I’d been a cleft surgeon for 9 years before joining OPSA, Nick had a few tricks to show me and was genuinely interested in how I did things. He always had enthusiasm and I saw his delight in seeing the cleft hospital in Gujrat grow and flourish. I was fortunate to be there on his last visit to Gujrat and he seemed to know that he wouldn’t be back and this saddened him greatly. He was a remarkable man with a huge heart and fathomless empathy and he leaves an amazing legacy and example to those of us that have the privilege to follow him.
Chris Hill, OPSA Trustee

Mr. Hart's way was always inclusive before it was the normal way of working and in vogue. He believed that the best ideas emerged from everyone’s diverse perspectives. During OPSA charity meetings, he ensured everyone had a voice, not just the loudest in the room .As a gobby Yorkshire lass myself he taught me the importance of creating a space where each team member feels comfortable and confident to contribute. He taught me to listen more. He also had an uncanny ability to identify and harness the strengths of each team member. Building quietly a charity board and alongside Mr Riaz an OPSA charitable team that can carry his legacy forwards. Mr. Hart approached challenges with a calm and collective demeanour, never allowing the pressure to fracture the team's unity. His example has been a guiding principle for me; when faced with obstacles, I strive to remain as composed in life as he was . I recall once being short staffed in theatres whilst on a OPSA surgical camp oversees , no news there I hear you say. Mr Hart just said “ Ill be the circulating nurse for this one ensuring that one team member got a break and all the checks and standards were maintained , what an example of humility. Proving to me also as Mr Hart reminded me “that surgeons can indeed count! He taught me that by valuing each person’s contribution not only bolsters team morale but also drives productivity and loyalty. There are so many funny stories to recall of our OPSA charity and in the passing of time these should be shared and we continue to speak of Mr Hart and his legacy so that he truly does live on.
Rae McGlone, OPSA Trustee

I know Mr Nick Hart as an excellent teacher, true professional, a very kind hearted caring gentleman, a great colleague and a kindest soul whose passion to heal the humanity lead to his initiative to help children with cleft lip and palate in Pakistan and other parts of the developing world.
My sole reason to take up my consultant plastic surgeon job with him in Hull was to join him in his work. I am so proud that in his leadership OPSA team has achieved one of his own kind , cleft set up in a developing country which is Cleft Hospital, Gujrat, Pakistan. It has not only provided the best care to thousands of patients, it has also provided the training to a lot trainees from Pakistan, UK and other parts of the world.
I have no doubt that the new generation of cleft surgeons from UK and Pakistan, other health professionals and members of OPSA team with continue his legacy and he will always be with us.
Rest in Peace Nick.
